Cashmore Meats is highly regarded within Melbourne’s hospitality scene as a wholesale supplier of meat, poultry and small goods with a focus on its customers regardless of whether they are big or small. Many of our loyal clientele have long term relationships with us and this is testament to Cashmore’s treating them like one of the family. Three generations have worked hard since 1939 to build the business, creating a great reputation in an industry which has become fast paced and highly competitive. Cashmore Meats has always been based on four core principles of community, quality, integrity and value for money, and we believe this is why we are still going strong 80 years later.
History
Starting as a small retail butchery in St Kilda Junction by John Cashmore in 1939, Cashmore’s rapidly grew its reputation with the locals and thanks to son Geoff also began supplying cafes, small hotels and nursing homes. In 1971 they grew out of their original premises and decided to relocate to Greeves St where they reinvented themselves into a wholesale meat and poultry supplier and remained here until 2017 before making the move to Moorabbin East. Now under the guidance of grandson Trevor the business continues to supply some of Melbourne’s best venues and institutions with a strong emphasis on quality and service. Will there be a fourth generation of the Cashmore family to continue the legacy? Only the future will tell, but if Trevor has his way, as long as people eat meat then Cashmore’s will be around to look after them.
